NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament: Sweet 16

Kentucky (+1) vs UCLA (-1)

Lock of the Week: UCLA -1

It's been a quiet month on the betting front for Bro Montana. I made a few March Madness picks on St. Patrick's day, but I made them around 4:00 p.m. in downtown Savannah so I have no idea what I picked.

Add that to the "Rules to Gamble By" post my nonexistent intern!

(I'm not going to add it so remember it yourself if you're the betting-type after you get a few drinks in you--it never works out!)

But anyway this isn't alcohol awareness. You good people don't flock to Bro Montana in droves for advice on how to handle your drunk self. Here's my pick and why.

In the most anticipated match up of the Sweet 16 I can remember, I had to sink my teeth into this juicy UCLA-Kentucky game. Both teams are studded with bonafide stars and carry a long tradition of winning in their respective programs. A quick look at the numbers shows you that the two teams are virtually even on paper.

Therefore, I accompany my UCLA (-1) pick with one sole reason.

Lonzo. Ball.

I know, I know. His dad is a nightmare. The last interview that guy ever gives will be far too late. However, his son has been backing up his father's giant mouth all year. The true freshman averaged 15 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists in the regular season.

But more importantly, Ball makes his entire team better. Unlike most promising young point guards, Ball rarely dominates the ball on the dribble. He's a willing passer and keeps the UCLA offense running like a well-oiled machine.

He might not drop 40 points tonight, but he's the guy I want to link my bank account to in this monster of a game. The kid plays winning basketball, simple as that.

Go put the rent money on UCLA (-1).

Lonzo won't let you or his loud-mouthed dad down tonight.
